Website

Yesterday, I launched my new and improved website. Content is the same, design, layout and features are new. Since moving over to Drupal last year, I never really adapted the site design to incorporate all the new features. I added a second sidebar to the design to show my tweets and music I listen to (thanks Twitter and Last.FM).

It seems like I can never really finish this website because I'm always switching systems. This time I wanted to try Drupal. I really like Joomla, as I still use it for the AzHx website, but I wanted a different approach for my own site. Drupal has a better Blog type content management, more freedom in tagging and categorizing and it produces much cleaner code. Joomla output was full of tables for layout while Drupal uses W3C compliant CSS for layout.
At the moment I'm still using the default Drupal template, but I will change that of course.
Another change is the addition of three more domain names to the site. From now on the main domain will be www.royveldman.com. The other three (www.royveldman.tk, www.royveldman.net and www.royveldman.org) will forward to the .com domain.

Once again welcome on my renewed website. I discovered a new content managment system that I used on a website for a company, and I really liked it. So much that I decided to use it for my personal site. And this is the result.

It still needs tweaking and adding of a lot of content, but the most important sections are back on-line.

Please note that the comments posted on the previous blog software are not transfered to the new system.

One day you'll just have to post the first message. And that day is today. The website isn't finished, but we'll give it a try and post this message.

The great thing about this is that I can test certain features. There are quite a few of these on this website and I had to modify they all on an existing piece of software. A large piece of the features I'm talking about are not visible for the regular visitor. Things like the weblog administration center are only visible to me, but they form an essential part of the functionality of this website.
