This is part four in my LowLands 2005 report. Pictures of LowLands 2005 can be found in my Photography section.
Sunday
Sunday presented us with some huge acts like Queens of the Stone Age and the Foo Fighters. But before it was time for those American rockers we had some breakfast. According to the two guys at our table at La Place, the fastest way to get your food was to turn everything upside down. Starting the day with dinner, and ending it with breakfast. Makes sense. In the morning there are short lines in front of the junk food stands and long lines at the breakfast shops. In the evening it's the other way around.
In the early afternoon we listened to some rather funny acts on the Charlie stage. In between I got hit by Millionaire, a stoner rock band from Belgium. Great warming up for their bigger brothers later on.
To be honest. I can't really remember everything I did in between this and the Queens as I'm writing this 7 months later. But I can remember that it was awesome. Too bad Mark Lanegan wasn't there.
Incubus gave a rather dull show. They sounded good but they just didn't play the right songs. Although they did play A Paler Shade of Green this time.
The Foo Fighters were fabulous! Dave Groh(w)l is a great entertainer. Maybe the songs are not very original, but his energetic performance makes up 110% for that! Nice detail: he went over to the sound tower, right next to where we were standing. I could almost touch him! Not that I would try though.
After this great show Lowlands slipped into the final long night of partying.
Monday
I woke up around 7 in the morning. I stepped out of the tent and noticed my brother just returning from a long night of partying. He would not get a lot of sleep.
A lot of tents had already disappeared. I made a quick visit to the bathroom tent and packed my things. The hardest thing to do this morning was waking up my brother. He was asleep for only an hour, but we didn't want to wait too long to head back home. Waiting queues at the busses would become longer and longer over time.
As soon as Anky left our tent I took it apart and I was ready to go. I helped Paul and Erik with their tents. When we left the site our the tents of our neighbors hadn't moved at all...
Looking back on Lowlands 2005 almost 7 months later I can still say it was the best edition for me ever. Next please!
